Farmers’ Market Volunteers Needed

Since 2003, the Ballston Spa Farmers’ Market has served our community, offering fresh local produce, baked and prepared foods and crafted goods.  The market supports small family farms and producers, while bringing residents and visitors to downtown Ballston Spa to also discover our shops, restaurants, museums and other attractions.  In our recent BSBPA member survey, the farmers’ market was listed as one of the most popular events and “highest value to you as a member”.  We truly want to keep this event viable for years to come.  However, to do so we need volunteer help on market days.

The 2022 markets are scheduled from June 11-September 29—Thursdays, 3-6 pm and Saturdays, 9 am-1 pm.  Both markets will once again be held in Wiswall Park.  The Saturday markets—and possibly some of the Thursday markets—will have local musicians performing.  Our market committee is looking for volunteers who can be present at the start of each market to help facilitate any questions and concerns as vendors set up, unlock the portapotty, assist musicians with any set up/electrical power issues.  The time frame the volunteer would need to be present would be from a half  hour prior to the market starting time to about an hour into the market (e.g. Thursdays would be 2:30-4 pm, Saturdays, 8:30 am-10 am).  Volunteers would sign up for specific market dates and will be trained with all information and details they will need.  The more volunteers we have, the more we can spread the task around so that not just a handful of people take on the whole season.  It’s a great way to get to know and support the vendors and get in some “early bird” market shopping!  Most importantly, your help will assure that the Ballston Spa Farmers’ Market will continue to be a presence in our village.

If you can help, please contact farmers’ market chairperson Nora Osuchowski at nora@ballston.org to find out more.

Thank you for your support!
