Museums

In some respects given its rich history, the whole Village of Ballston Spa is a museum. That does not mean it faces the past - just the opposite. You need only stroll downtown along Front and Milton Streets to see that ours is a vibrant and optimistic, forward-looking community. But we do have two museums, and these are important. Brookside Museum, current home to the Saratoga County historical society, is housed in the original building that Benajah Douglas built in 1792, which then became the Aldridge House, which today is the Brookside. The National Bottle Museum on the other hand, may be housed in "newer" quarters, but its mission is to preserve the history of our nation’s first major industry, bottle making. Its exhibits often change as the museum takes advantage of its access to collections all over the United States. That makes it worth visiting - repeatedly.
