Workshop: Researching Your Historic Home

The Historic District Commission will host a workshop to demonstrate how to research the age of your Ballston Spa house. This workshop will use on-line historical and public resources to date the age of your home. Along the way, get to know your home’s history, and those people who were a part of this Village community. The workshop will be held at the Ballston Spa Public Library Community Room, 21 Milton Ave., Ballston Spa, NY, Thursday, May 9, 2024 at 7 PM.

Workshop participants should enter the Library Community Room by way of the Low Street entrance, adjacent to the Library parking lot. John Cromie, Chair of the Historic District Commission, will conduct the workshop, do a live demonstration and show attendees how to do this research for their home. Historic District Commission members will share research about their home and provide insight to the history they uncovered, using photos, artifacts and other touchstones to the past. Homeowners in the Village’s Historic District can use this research as the first step towards getting a designation plaque through the Historic District Commission.

Join us if you have an older home, live in the historic district, love history or are passionate about community character.
